When they initially announced their reunion, Godspeed You! Black Emperor suggested they would only be playing "nine American towns," in addition to their European dates. Fortunately, the legendary Montreal post-rock collective have added to those plans with a full North American tour, including three Toronto shows. Now, they have finally revealed plans for three consecutive hometown shows in Montreal.
Constellation Records, the band's label, revealed the dates on their site with the following statement:
We're happy to finally announce the home town shows. Presented by Blue Skies Turn Black, Godspeed will perform April 27, 28, and 29 at Montréal's Corona Theatre (2490 Notre-Dame Ouest). Guests will be announced at a later date and the band will donate all profits from the shows to beneficiaries that will be made public as the shows approach. Tickets are $12 and go on sale 25 November at Atom Heart, Cheap Thrills, L'Oblique, and Phonopolis. A limited number will also be available through the Blues Skies Turn Black website. There will be no media accreditations for these shows.
All tour dates are available below, including more European appearances. These shows appear to mark the end of the band's international tour, but we're desperately hoping it's not the end of their reunion. Next year would be greatly improved with a new GY!BE album.
