While Butch Vig isn't really helping Foo Fighters leader Dave Grohl put together a keyboard-heavy solo album, the celebrated producer/drummer is now confirmed to be releasing a new LP with his long-running band, Garbage. The quartet's Strange Little Birds comes out June 10 via their own STUNVOLUME imprint.
Though Garbage recently toured behind a reissue of their 1995 self-titled debut, the upcoming record is the band's first full-length of original material since 2012's Not Your Kind of People. The 11-song album was cut in Vig's basement recording studio, as well as Los Angeles' Red Razor Sounds.
Vocalist Shirley Manson said in a statement that "the guiding principle was keeping it fresh, and relying on instinct both lyrically and musically," but also noted that the results are akin to the band's early days.
"To me, this record, funnily enough, has the most to do with the first record than any of the previous records," she said, adding, "It's getting back to that beginner's headspace."
While previews from Strange Little Birds have yet to appear, it includes bleakly titled pieces like "Empty," "Even Though Our Love Is Doomed," "If I Lost You" and "Night Drive Loneliness." You'll find all of the tracklisting details down below.
