Veteran alt-rock quartet Garbage are set to return this spring with Strange Little Birds, their first full-length in four years. Before the full album takes flight June 10 through the group's own STUNVOLUME imprint, they've unleashed the record's first single, "Empty."
As previously reported, vocalist Shirley Manson had alluded to the new album being spiritually similar to the band's 1995 self-titled debut. Despite the song title, "Empty" is jam-packed with '90s-leaning synth swerves and post-grunge guitar hooks.
Manson's soft but focused delivery weighs in on "feeling like a fake," and fighting the monsters and demons she's apparently been dealing with for "eons."
