Fleet Foxes are back with their first new music since 2020's Shore and 2021 live album A Very Lonely Solstice.

"A Sky Like I've Never Seen" was conceived as a collaboration between songwriting professor Robin Pecknold and Brazilian musician Tim Bernardes for the new Prime Video documentary Wildcat.

The film, which follows a young British veteran and a Ph.D. candidate as they try to rehabilitate an orphaned ocelot in Peru, is due in theatres on December 21 and on the streaming service on December 30.

"I was inspired by how the film employed unconventional means to arrive at something universally moving, and was struck by all the collisions inherent in the film's conceit — between species, between hemispheres, between individuals, between the psychological and the natural," Pecknold shared in a statement.

"In hotel rooms and in borrowed studios, on time stolen from a world tour, I put this song together," he added. "It was an honour to be asked to make a song that could serve as an end-cap to this unique and affecting story and to collaborate with Tim again."

Fleet Foxes also showed up onscreen in the trailer for the new Judee Sill documentary.
