Elvis Costello to Release 1978 High School Performance As Live Album

BY Josiah HughesPublished Dec 24, 2009

Back in 1978, Elvis Costello was on an upward trajectory thanks to the success albums like My Aim Is True and This Year's Model, along with the controversy surrounding his infamous SNL performance. As a result, a live set in the auditorium at L.A.'s Hollywood High School on June 4 was packed to the brim with people.

Fortunately, like-minded power pop expert Nick Lowe was their to record the 20-song set from Costello and his band, the Attractions. Now, the entire show will be issued on the album Live at Hollywood High. Besides tracks from My Aim Is True and This Year's Model, the set also included tracks previewing Costello's next album, Armed Forces.

The record is the second in a series called The Costello Show, which previously included Live at the El Mocambo, and in the future, the series plans to release performances from London's Royal Albert Hall and Royalty Theater.

Live at Hollywood High will be available on January 12 from Universal.
