There's an irony to hearing Ducks Ltd. sing about feeling lifeless and empty, given how their music evokes heart-swelling emotion. On "Hollowed Out," from the upcoming album Harm's Way, the Toronto janglers sing about a mindless life spent in an ugly concrete city where people only "eat, fuck and sleep." But, as a bass organ grinds out the low end and Tom McGreevy's voice is coated in honeyed harmonies, the mood is one of pure bliss.
