Dr. Luke Responds to Rape Accusation and "#FreeKesha" Campaign

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Feb 23, 2016

The ongoing #FreeKesha campaign over social media has brought worldwide awareness to a recent court decision that prevented pop star Kesha from being released from her recording contract with Sony and producer Dr. Luke, whom the singer had accused of emotional, physical and sexual abuse. While Kesha has been receiving support from fans and artists like Taylor Swift and Best Coast's Bethany Cosentino, Dr. Luke has now used his online presence to weigh in on the case.

Following an earlier statement from Dr. Luke's legal team that said "the allegations against him are outright lies," the producer issued a series of messages over Twitter this afternoon (February 22) explaining his position further.

His tweets call Kesha "motivated by money" and deny any sexual abuse. "I didn't rape Kesha and I have never had sex with her," he writes.

Dr. Luke also points to a sworn deposition from 2011 wherein Kesha's says she did not "have an intimate relationship" with the producer. He also posted a TMZ headline from 2014 about Lady Gaga denying Kesha's lawyers claims of abuse.

Lady Gaga is one of the many celebrities to have tweeted out their support for Kesha over the last few days, writing: "There are people all over the world who love you @KeshaRose. And I can say truly I am in awe of your bravery."
