Destroyer

“The Temple”/“Loves of a Gnostic”

BY James KeastPublished Dec 1, 1999

“The Temple” is a lovely slice of simplicity that vocally recalls “Space Oddity”-era Bowie from Vancouver’s Destroyer, aka Daniel Bejar. For the flip of this two-song seven-inch, he goes with a “Bandmix” of “Loves of a Gnostic,” from his wholly underrated 1997 LP City of Daughters. Both fit his mold of spare, lovely throwbacks, but a mere two songs just doesn’t satisfy.
