Darkside Announce 'Live at Spiral House'

"I probably played every Jerry Garcia riff I know in every key over the course of Spiral House," said guitarist Dave Harrington

Nicolás Jaar and Dave Harrington have announced another new release as Darkside. Live at Spiral House will be out on June 9 through Matador Records.

The album was captured during tour rehearsals last summer in Los Angeles, with Jaar and Harrington joined by drummer Tlacael Esparza.

Most of the songs on the tracklist are performances of previously released Darkside cuts — although "Dream (Interlude)" and "Lero" appear to be new. "Heart Jam" is presumably based on the song "Heart" from 2013's Psychic.

The performances are apparently loose jams rather than faithful run-throughs. Harrington said in a statement, "I probably played every Jerry Garcia riff I know in every key over the course of Spiral House. You'd be surprised how good 'China Cat Sunflower' sounds on 'Narrow Road'!"

Jaar and Harrington produced and mixed the album themselves. It was recorded by Jed DeMoss and Benjamin Palmer. See the tracklist below, as well as a behind-the-scenes video about the Spiral House space.
