The Darcys Announce 'Warring' Album, Premiere New Track

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jul 24, 2013

Toronto quartet the Darcys last left us with their full-album redo of Steely Dan's Aja, but they'll soon deliver a new set of originals under the title Warring. Arts & Crafts releases the album on September 17.

According to a blog post from the band, the Darcys have been working on the LP for the last three years. The 10-song set was produced by Tom McFall (Stars, Alcoholic Faith Mission).

"Warring is moving forward," the band explained in a statement. "It's learning in motion. Competition and survival, letting go to persevere. It is anxiety about the future and the triumph of life in the moment. It's victory on will alone, the force that eradicates failure as an option."

You can stream swirling new tune "The River," featuring Afrobeat-styled guitar, textured electronic ambiance and the smoky, late-night vocals of Jason Couse, down below. The song is also available for the price of a tweet over on the group's website until August 12.

The Darcys will also play Guelph's Hillside Festival on July 27, and a full-fledged tour is expected to be announced shortly.
