Coleman Hell Details Debut 'Summerland' Album

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Sep 28, 2016

After streaming out a series of folk-flavoured pop bangers like "Fireproof" and "2 Heads" over the last year and a half, Thunder Bay-raised singer Coleman Hell has announced his formal full-length debut. Titled Summerland, the album arrives in Canada October 14 via 604 Records, with a global release being handled by Columbia.

Summerland follows Hell's 2015 self-titled EP and adds that release's massive "2 Heads" single to the tracklisting. It also features the spring-released "Fireproof" single and a clutch of cuts Hell worked on during a cabin retreat with his musical collaborators, in between building bonfires, going fishing and partying in the wilderness.

The plotting of Summerland had Hell returning to Thunder Bay after 10 years of living in Toronto, with the artist noting of his retreat: "I wanted to re-embrace that life, those great summers I remembered, and also get in touch with some of the music that influenced me at that time."
