Cold Specks Announces Debut Album, Canadian Tour Dates

Back in the fall, Etobicoke, ON's Cold Specks became a member of Arts & Crafts' quickly expanding stable of artists. Now that she's signed to one of Canada's most revered record companies, the "doom soul" singer also known as Al Spx will be looking to capitalize on the opportunity by rolling out her debut album and hitting the road.

The album is called I Predict a Graceful Expulsion, and it's out on May 22. It includes the previously unveiled single "Holland," which now has a slightly eerie split-screen video that you can watch at the bottom of the page. The 11-song tracklist is also below.

UPDATE: The album will be out on May 21 overseas via Cold Specks' new international label home of Mute Records.

A press release notes that Spx's material is "steeped in the musical traditions of the Deep South," with reference points including Alan Lomax's field recordings, Mahalia Jackson, Bill Callahan and Tom Waits.

To spread the word of the upcoming release, Cold Specks will be hitting the road in Canada. The trek includes a couple of Ontario stops next month followed by a run of shows with Great Lake Swimmers in the May and June. The tour dates are below the tracklist.
