Coeur de pirate Teases New Album with "Prémonition" Video

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jan 19, 2018

Coeur de pirate has hinted that a new album is on the way, backing up that claim with a video for her brand new single "Prémonition."

Details on the upcoming full-length are scarce, but it is expected to arrive this spring. It will mark the follow-up to 2015's Roses.

And although not much else is known about the record yet, Couer de pirate has offered up a glimpse at her latest material with "Prémonition."

"It's a song about the cycle of toxic relationships," she said in a statement. "The mistakes we regret in our relationships, we always repeat them. Why do people who make each other unhappy stay together? My conclusion is that there is comfort in that. We return to what we know."

That sentiment translates into a song that's as danceable as it is sad, and it was recorded with the help of producer Tristan Salvati.

The track has also been treated to a music video, courtesy of director Neels Castillon. Inspired by the films of Yorgos Lanthimos (The Lobster, The Killing of a Sacred Deer), the choreography of Pina Bausch and the brutalist architectural design of Le Corbusier, the clip captures a pair of ill-suited lovers who are unable to give each other up.

While we wait for more details about the upcoming Coeur de pirate record, watch the video for "Prémonition" below.
