It feels particularly funny that some may have tried to write Carly Rae Jepsen off as a one-hit wonder after the mega-success of "Call Me Maybe" when she continues operating at a King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard-level of prolific.

After famously narrowing down the tracklist of the pop canon instant-classic E·MO·TION from 200 songs and whittling down 65 outtakes from last year's The Loneliest Time to the 13-track B-sides collection The Loveliest Time earlier this year, Jepsen is apparently already at least 26 songs deep into her next album.

In the cover story for the November issue of Virgin Atlantic's Vera in-flight magazine, the pop star revealed to journalist Kevin EG Perry that she's a "little obsessed" with songwriting — to the point where she genuinely can't seem to stop.

"I've been home from tour for about a month and I have 26 songs written for the next album," Jepsen told him with a laugh, having been on the road with boygenius this summer, in addition to playing a boatload of festivals and saving fans from electrocution at some headlining gigs of her own. "At a certain point, I was just like, this is my process. Songwriting is the best thing I've ever discovered. I'm a little obsessed!"

She elaborated, "The idea that you and I could be here, and you'd grab a guitar and we'd bring something into the world that wasn't here before, and is not even a tangible thing, but we could both be evoked in some way. And then later on, you can show other people and they'd feel it too, and you'd all feel like strangers connected," the singer-songwriter gushed. "It's just magic."
