Netflix's new series 13 Reasons Why has generated a lot of attention, and not all of it positive. While the Selena Gomez-produced drama is undoubtedly popular, many have been critical of its portrayal of teen suicide and reported spikes in calls to suicide helplines. Now, Car Seat Headrest's Will Toledo — whose song "Oh! Starving" appears on the soundtrack — has spoken out against the show.
In a series of tweets, he described the show as "kind of fucked" and accused the writers of "tell[ing] kids how to turn their miserable and hopeless lives into a thrilling and cathartic suicide mission." See the tweets below.

Toledo isn't the only one with strong opinions about 13 Reasons Why. Michael Jackson's daughter Paris praised the show's message about bullying but warned fans to "please only watch this show with caution." Stranger Things actress Shannon Purser advised followers that it could "trigger painful memories and feelings" among those who have experienced suicidal thoughts or sexual abuse (although she also praised the show's merit). Selena Gomez told the AP [via Us Weekly], "We wanted to do it justice and, yeah, [the backlash is] going to come no matter what. It's not an easy subject to talk about, but I'm very fortunate with how it's doing."and read this comic https://t.co/K7jCfE530Y
