Having signed to Dine Alone earlier this year, exploratory Toronto soul man Brendan Philip is preparing to release his Culture Power Vol.0 EP on October 16. In the meantime, he has shared a new track called "Ghostface."
A press release notes that the song was inspired by a hip-hop legend but, surprisingly, it's not Wu-Tang Clan's Ghostface Killah. Rather, it's J Dilla and his old group Slum Village. The song uses a juddering, mechanical-sounding beat as the backdrop for Philip's darkly tuneful croons.
