BreakOut West — Canada's largest music industry event — returns in person for its 20th anniversary edition, taking place from September 28 to October 2 in Calgary, AB. Over five days, the event will host an immersive industry and artist development conference led by international insiders, as well as a stacked music festival with over 50 artists lined up to perform.

Three nights of showcases (from September 29 to October 1) will see performances from the best in the west (as well as a couple of East Coast friends and 10 guests from overseas), including Neon Dreams, K-Riz, Missy D, Nimkish, Haley Blais, Mauvey, Alysha Brilla, St. Arnaud, Mathew V, Desiree Dorion, Amy Nelson, Erica Dee Mah, Gunner & Smith, I Am the Mountain, Joey O'Neil, Marissa Burwell, XL the Band, the Hypochondriacs, Tea Fannie, Slow Leaves, Shred Kelly, Sierra Noble, Shaela Miller and more.

Before that, the festivities begin early with a celebration of the winners of the 2022 Western Canadian Music Awards. A live broadcast — featuring performances from Pop Artist of the Year nominee Nuela Charles and Artist of the Year nominees the Garrys — will reveal the recipients. An official in-person watch party will take place tomorrow (September 23) at Calgary's Ship and Anchor. Viewers can tune into the broadcast from home at 6 p.m. MT via the BOW Facebook page.

"Calgary is growing as a music city," Jeff Hessel, a VP with Tourism Calgary who is also on BOW Host Committee, said in a release. "The city takes great pride in highlighting its local talent and supporting both emerging and more established artists. We're excited to see them perform and to welcome international artists who are joining us as well."

Festival wristbands are now available online (and at participating venues starting September 29) for $15.
