Baptists Gear Up for 'Bloodmines'

BY Gregory AdamsPublished May 30, 2014

Daemonic West Coast hardcore crew Baptists made the trip back to Salem, MA, this spring to record their sophomore follow-up to last year's Bushcraft, and it will arrive later this year as Bloodmines.

Though an official street date has yet to be given up, a press release confirms Southern Lord will have the set in stores sometime this September.

As with Bushcraft, Bloodmines found Baptists hitting the iconic GodCity Studios with Converge's Kurt Ballou, once again producing "a fast, exhilarating album of rage." While the music is still said to be "volatile," the press release notes that the song cycle features more tracks burning over the two-minute mark, and that cuts like "Vistas," "Calling" and the title track are partly influenced by the jagged post-hardcore of early '90s San Diego act Drive Like Jehu.

Details on the street date, tracklisting and album art are forthcoming, but you can check out a new tune called "Wanting" from a recent live set captured at Vancouver's Rain City Recorders in the video down below. It's unclear at present if the track will make it onto Bloodmines.
