Art Bergmann

"Atheist's Prayer" (demo) (video)

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jul 16, 2015

Veteran Canadian punker Art Bergmann emerged from hiding with the 2014 EP Songs for the Underclass, and now he's planning to follow it up with a new album called The Apostate. He's currently raising money for the LP with a PledgeMusic campaign, and he's given us a taste of what's in store by sharing a video for a demo of "Atheist's Prayer."

The song is a mellow roots rock number, as Bergmann croons fragilely over a stripped-down arrangement of shuffling drums and subtly nimble, clean electric licks. This is only a demo, however, so the final version might sound a little different. The accompanying video uses extremely vintage-looking fidelity to show footage of modern-day Vancouver, as shaky, scratchy-looking shots of the city are run through a blue-looking filter.

Check out the clip below. The footage was shot by David George and edited by Gordon Withers.

Fans who want to pre-order a digital copy of The Apostate or get other goodies can check out Bergmann's PledgeMusic campaign.
