Archers of Loaf are due to deliver Reason in Decline — their first new album since 1998 — on October 21 through Merge, and today, they've further previewed the effort by sharing new single "Aimee," in addition to extending their North American tour.
Having announced a run of 2022 dates earlier this year, the band have now mapped out another string of shows for early 2023. Following their final 2022 show in Asheville, NC, on December 4, the band will pick back up again on January 10 in Pittsburgh, PA. The following night (January 11), they'll head north of the border for their lone Canadian stop at Toronto's Lee's Palace. The tour concludes in Seattle, WA on February 12. Support along the way will come from Toronto's own Weird Nightmare and Ducks Ltd., as well as We Have Ignition, on select dates.
Perhaps the band will perform the previously shared "Screaming Undercover" and Reason in Decline lead single "In the Surface Noise" along the way, as well as new single "Aimee," an acoustic-lead heart-tugger fresh off the presses.
"Right in the middle of an album about war profiteering, suicide ideation, modern propaganda and the struggle against anti-intellectualism comes this brief exhalation in the form of a tender, albeit dystopian, love song," singer-guitarist Eric Bachmann explained of the track in a statement.
Tickets for the 2022 dates are on sale now, while tickets for the new dates will go on sale this Friday (September 30) at 10 a.m. local time here.
