Agoraphobic Nosebleed

Altered States of America

Just in case this 100-song (in 99 tracks, you have to rewind to before the first track to hear the first song - take that, iTunes!) 19-minute CD wasn't insane enough the first time around (it was), here it is again, this time with a bonus second CD, a 20-minute EP of even more insane noise remixes of AxNx material. Oh my. Altered States is the Nosebleed at their finest: completely over-the-top, machines-always-win grind; songs that rarely clock in over a few seconds; and, heck, even the lyrics are included. The attention to detail to what could have been a joke toss-off release is incredible; these guys should be locked up but then the grind world would be losing one of its finest. The remix CD borders on unlistenable but is glorious electronic noise to those willing to venture further into the underbelly of this beast. The big question is what's nuttier: the original version, which was a three-inch CD, or this reissue, which has two short playing five-inchers?
