Comedian, writer and actor Charlie Murphy sadly passed away yesterday at age 57 following a battle with leukemia. In joining those who paid respects to Murphy from the comedy world and beyond, Dave Chappelle and John Mayer delivered a tribute of their own during the latter's performance in Columbus last night (April 12).

Mayer brought Chappelle onstage to close out his tour stop at the Value City Arena last night. After shooting the shit with one another, the two spoke about Murphy. Chappelle then asked Mayer to play his song "You're Gonna Live Forever in Me" in memorial of his fallen friend and partner in comedy.

Though Chappelle asked the audience to put away their cellphones prior to Mayer playing the song, fan footage is available to view below. As previously reported, Murphy is recognized for his acting and writing work on Chappelle's Show, particularly his "Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories" bit, in which he told stories of partying with Prince and Rick James alongside younger brother Eddie Murphy.
