If there are two people who know how to direct an arsenal of characters with weird names, it's certainly David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. The creators of Game of Thrones are currently wrapping the show's final season, and now they've officially booked their next gig — Star Wars.

The news was first announced early last year, but their names hadn't come up when Disney revealed the next Star Wars trilogy. Now, their involvement has been fully confirmed for the franchise's upcoming 2022 film.

While speaking at the MoffetNathanson Media & Communications summit [via Gizmodo], Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed the involvement of Benioff and Weiss for the next Star Wars film, but didn't offer much else by way of details.

"We did a deal with David Benioff and D.B Weiss, who are famous for Game of Thrones, and the next movie that we release will be theirs," he said. "And we're not saying anything more about that."

Following The Rise of Skywalker, which arrives this December, the next Star Wars films will come out in 2022, 2024 and 2026.
