Disney Delays 'Avatar' Sequels and Reveals New 'Star Wars' Trilogy

James Cameron has been slowly but surely plugging away at a batch of Avatar sequels, taking his sweet time to give us more of those blue dudes and their weird-ass ponytails. That said, we'll have to wait a little longer because Disney has just delayed the films. More importantly, it has announced the release plan for another Star Wars trilogy.

According to ReutersAvatar 2 is now slated for December 2021. The other three Avatar sequels have not been dated just yet.

Perhaps more importantly, the "bit of a hiatus" that the Star Wars movies were supposedly taking will not really be that long. A new trilogy appears to be on the docket, with Star Wars films planned to drop in December 2022, 2024 and 2026.

Of course, Avatar has joined the mouse house through Disney's acquisition of Fox. That means they could theoretically cross over with the Star Wars universe — maybe a Na'vi could plug their ponytail into a Wookie?
