Keanu Reeves Wants to Become a US Citizen

Jimmy Kimmel is even willing to marry him to make it official

Despite living in Hollywood since 1985, Keanu Reeves still only holds Canadian citizenship — for now. In a new appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, our (almost former?) national treasure said he'd be interested in becoming a US citizen.

"I'm still a Canadian," he said as the crowd cheered. That sentiment changed quickly when Kimmel asked whether or not he'd like to become an American citizen and he responded, "Yeah, man, why not?"

Kimmel proceeded to call his bluff by pulling out citizenship paperwork, and even offered to marry Reeves to make him American. "But you're married," Reeves said, not mentioning that he may be married to Winona Ryder "under the eyes of God."

"I know, but I told her that we might have to make some amendments to our constitution," Kimmel replied while laughing, adding that they would have a citizenship party for him on the show if he went through with the process.

Reeve's chat with Kimmel comes as he promotes his comic series BRZRKR (but he still hasn't joined the MCU?), and he's jokingly offered to send Joe Biden a copy of it in order to expedite the immigration process.
