Just over a year removed from its star-studded cast reveal, we now have our first look at Disney's forthcoming live action remake of The Lion King.

The short teaser trailer gives us our first look at a young CGI Simba, who is hoisted towards the heavens in classic fashion by Rafiki on top of Pride Rock. The film now also has a concrete release date, and it is set to arrive in theatres July 19, 2019.

As previously reported, the Jon Favreau-directed remake will star Donald Glover and Beyoncé as Simba and Nala, respectively. Other notable names in the cast include James Earl Jones (reprising his original role as Mufasa), Chiwetel Ejiofor (as Scar), Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner (as Timon and Pumbaa), John Oliver (as Zazu), Eric André (as Azizi) and Keegan-Michael Key (as Kamari).

You can watch the official teaser trailer below. Earlier this year, it was reported that Beyoncé and Elton John were at work on new original music for the film's soundtrack.
