Season 3 of The Witcher is nearly upon us. Netflix has shared the first taste of what's to come from Henry Cavill's final run as Geralt of Rivia before Liam Hemsworth takes over in the role for Season 4.

With directors Stephen Surjik, Gandja Monteiro, Loni Peristere and Bola Ogun at the helm, the series is due to return with Episodes 1 through 5 on June 29. Episodes 6 to 8 will follow on July 27, and today, we get a sneak peek with a synopsis and teaser trailer, which you can watch below.

Here's how Season 3 will go down, according to Netflix:

As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusted with Ciri's magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where they hope to uncover more about the girl's untapped powers; instead, they discover they've landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line — or risk losing each other forever.

Season 3 will star Cavill (Geralt of Rivia), Anya Chalotra (Yennefer of Vengerberg), Freya Allan (Princess Cirilla of Cintra), Joey Batey (Jaskier), Myanna Buring (Tissaia), Eamon Farren (Cahir), Mimî M Khayisa (Fringilla), Royce Pierreson (Istredd), Anna Shaffer (Triss Merigold), Mecia Simson (Francesca), Tom Canton (Filavandrel) and many more.

It's been nearly two years since we last heard from The Witcher. In the time since, Cavill has been eyed for a Highlander reboot and dropped from James Gunn's next Superman film.
