His family said he had been suffering from an ongoing medical condition and died from a seizure in his sleep on Saturday (July 6).
Boyce's first role was in the film Mirrors when he was nine years old. He went on to become a Disney Channel star in shows like Jessie and the TV movie series about the children of Disney villains, Descendants.
He also played Adam Sandler's character's son in the Grown Ups films.
A number of his former co-stars have paid tribute to Boyce. See some of their messages below.

Our "Jessie" family has been devastated by the sad and untimely passing of our beloved Cameron Boyce. He always lit up a room when he entered-he was an extraordinarily talented actor, a selfless advocate with his charity work, and a loyal friend. Our hearts are heavy with sadness.
