It may have had a statue rejected in Regina, but Ryan Reynolds' raunchy, R-rated Marvel movie Deadpool is still a massive worldwide success. In fact, the violent and swear-filled flick is now the highest grossing R-rated movie of all time.
The movie has raked in an astonishing $745 million USD at the global box office, which is especially impressive considering the fact that it hasn't been released in China (the world's second largest movie-going audience).
The huge numbers mean Deadpool has officially surpassed the Wachowski sisters' 2003 movie The Matrix Reloaded, which previously held the record at $742 million worldwide.
Many are expecting Deadpool's success to open the door to more R-rated comic book movies. A sequel to the film is already in the works.
