'Sonic the Hedgehog' Producer Tim Miller Promises Fans Will Like the Redesign

The long-awaited Sonic the Hedgehog was nearly a complete disaster. When its first images and trailer were initially released, we all lost our minds at how terrifying the character looked. It got so bad that director Jeff Fowler promised to redesign the character. Now, producer Tim Miller says it was worth the wait.

Speaking with Variety, Miller explained that Sonic couldn't afford to flop. "This is a franchise, and it has to be great," he said.

"Look, I was with fans and so was Jeff," he continued. "When the shit hit the fan, I went over there and said, 'The most important thing to do, man, is say, I fucked up.' He'd already sent a tweet out an hour before I got there. He's a good man. It was exactly the right way to handle that. The fans have a voice in this too. There's a right way to listen."

When asked if he's seen the new Sonic design, Miller said, "In fact I have. And I think the fans will be pleased." A new teaser poster, available above, hints at a more cartoony design for the character.

Sonic the Hedgehog will now be released on February 14, 2020, which begs one final question — redesign or not, will it be a good date movie?
