'Child's Play' 2019 Is Getting a Vinyl Soundtrack Release

Because Chucky wants to play... on your turntable

The new Child's Play reboot just hit theatres, and soon its soundtrack will also be hitting your turntable. Today Waxwork Records announced the label will be releasing a sprawling 2-LP vinyl edition of the score.

The Child's Play soundtrack was composed by Bear McCreary — who just did the OST for Godzilla: King of the Monsters — and it will arrive as a sprawling double-LP edition later this summer.

Appropriately enough, McCreary used a "toy orchestra" and "kids choir" to compose the music for the film. Better yet, it also features star Mark Hamill, who voices the demonic Chucky in the latest film, singing the track "The Buddi Song" and "Theme from Child's Play."

Waxwork had this to say about the soundtrack:

Inspired by Chucky's toy origins, McCreary challenges himself by composing a score solely with toys and handheld instruments, completely avoiding traditional orchestra. Toy pianos, slinkies, xylophones, rattles, ukuleles, accordions, kazoos, hurdy gurdies and more are married with a variety synthesizers, percussion, violin, viola, cello and bass to create a wholly original, terrifying and dynamic score.

The OST includes the complete film music by McCreary, and it will all be pressed on 180-gram "Chucky's Eyes" colored vinyl (Blue and Red). The artwork you see above was created by Phantom City Creative.

Waxwork's vinyl release is set to ship in August, but it's already available to pre-order here, where you can also check out a series of product shots.

Down below, you can also stream the entire soundtrack now, including Hamill doing "The Buddi Song."

Child's Play is out in theatres today. It is directed by Lars Klevberg and stars Aubrey Plaza, Gabriel Bateman, Brian Tyree Henry and Mark Hamill as the voice of Chucky.
