Godzilla is stomping back into theatres, so it only makes sense that a vinyl release for the soundtrack to Godzilla: King of the Monsters would also be incoming.

Waxwork Records will be releasing the soundtrack by Bear McCreary in July, with pre-orders going live on Friday (May 31).

Serving as the direct sequel to 2014's Godzilla, the film was written and directed by Michael Dougherty and stars Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Vera Farmiga (The Conjuring) and Kyle Chandler. Overall, it stands as the 35th film in the long-running monster movie franchise.

As for McCreary's soundtrack, it's described like this:

The immense film music by composer Bear McCreary (The Walking Dead) features a two year long labor of love dubbed a "Monster Opera" by director Michael Dougherty. The music of GODZILLA KOTM is a crucial element to the film. Each "kaiju" is given a voice in this epic opera — Godzilla is presented with heroic, guttural vocalizations. King Ghidorah presented with dark, hypnotic chanting. Mothra by way of an ethereal female choir. Rodan's voice achieved by orchestral French horns pushed to their very limit to "scream" ripping roars.

In addition, Akira Ifukube's iconic Godzilla theme is incorporated into the score, as is "Mothra's Song" by Yuji Koseki. Plus, there's System of a Down singer Serj Tankian's cover of the Blue Öyster Cult classic "Godzilla," which also features Brendon Small of Dethklok/Metalocalypse fame and Testament drummer Gene Hoglan.

This all amounts to 98 minutes of music, which will be pressed by Waxwork onto a sprawling 180-gram triple-vinyl set. Artwork comes by Christopher Shy, and McCreary has provided the liner notes.

There's also two variants: a "Kaiju" version and a "Godzilla" version. The "Kaiju" variant features a "Gold and Yellow Swirl" record, a "Oxblood and Fire Orange Swirl" record, and a "Cyan and Baby Blue Swirl" record. The "Godzilla" variant, meanwhile, comes on "Electric Blue, Black and Gray Swirl" vinyl.

You can check out what both variants look like below, where you can also stream the entire soundtrack. You can pre-order the vinyl version of the soundtrack at Waxwork's website, where you can also learn more about the release.
