Amy Schumer Buys Back the Farm Her Family Lost for Her Dad

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Dec 20, 2016

Amy Schumer had to skip out on her Canadian tour dates earlier this fall due to illness, but she's feeling better and getting into the holiday spirit in a big (and expensive) way.

The Barbie actress and comedian grew up with a family farm, but as detailed in her recent book The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo, the property was lost along with the rest of their fortune when her parents went broke after her father Gordon was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Schumer was 12 at the time.

In a generous gift-giving move, Schumer has now purchased the farm as a present to her father.

On Instagram, she posted a screenshot of her dad's reaction from the video call in which she revealed the news.

Today I bought my father's farm back.

She also shared a childhood video of herself in the middle of a cornfield on the farm. In the caption, she wrote: "We lost the farm when we lost everything else. But today I got to buy it back for him."
