The Very Best Reveal 'Makes a King' LP, Share New Track

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Feb 2, 2015

After teasing a forthcoming LP with a stream of the Vampire Weekend-assisted "Hear Me" single, UK-based pop fusionists the Very Best have now delivered details on the upcoming album release. Johan Hugo and Esau Mwamwaya officially make their royal return on April 14 when Moshi Moshi puts out their Makes a King.

As previously reported, the record is their first since 2012's MTMTMK.The 13-song set was recorded in Mdala Chikowa, Malawi, with Hugo explaining in a press release that the album is about "celebrating the positive and the negative in life — and striving to stay happy through it all."

In addition to "Hear Me," Vampire Weekend bassist Chris Baio also contributed to the set's second single, "Let Go." You can find a stream of the sun-dappled pop rock number, sprinkled with Mwamwaya's joyful, multitracked vocal melodies, down below courtesy of Pitchfork.

Other guests popping up on Makes a King include Jutty Ranx's Jutty Taylor, Senegalese musician Baaba Maal, and London singer-guitarist Seye. You'll find all of the tracklisting details below as well.
