Veruca Salt Unveil Reunion Album, Premiere New Single

BY Gregory AdamsPublished May 19, 2015

A couple years on from Veruca Salt first announcing they'd got back together to work on new material, the alt-rock-era survivors have formally announced their first LP in nine years. The record is called Ghost Notes, and it comes to haunt our stereo speakers and earbuds this summer.

The album comes out July 10 through El Camino Media and will feature 14 tracks from the classic lineup of singer-guitarists Nina Gordon and Louise Post, bassist Steve Lack and drummer Jim Shapiro. While a Post-driven lineup had delivered IV in 2006, Ghost Notes is the classic lineup's first record together since 1997's Eight Arms to Hold You. As previously reported, the recording sessions also re-teamed the band with producer Brad Wood (Pearl Jam), who had produced their 1994 debut American Thighs.

A tracklisting has been revealed, which confirms that the full-length features "The Museum of Broken Relationships," a song that had originally been issued on the band's Record Store Day 10-inch from 2014.

A new song called "Laughing in the Sugar Bowl," meanwhile, has just popped up on Spotify. The crunchy rock track has a bit of a "Seether" feel to it and references spell check, morning-after confusion and more. You can stream it down below.

UPDATE: The band have also unveiled a stream of Ghost Notes' "The Gospel According to Saint Me," which you can also check out below.

Veruca Salt also recently announced a North American tour, meaning they'll likely be playing a good chunk of new tunes on the road this summer. The trip hits Toronto's Lee's Palace on July 28.
