Earlier this year, Chicago '90s alt-rock vets Veruca Salt announced that they had buried the hatchet after a long hiatus and were in the midst of writing new material. Now, the band have confirmed they'll soon be hitting the studio to track a couple of cuts.
The announcement came in a tweet from the band this weekend, with the group writing that they'll be recording songs with producer Brad Wood (Liz Phair, Touché Amoré), who had recorded the Veruca Salt's 1994 debut American Thighs.
"It's confirmed: We are heading into the studio in October with none other than Brad Wood to record a couple of songs," the band wrote.
While technically this is the first new material we've heard from Veruca Salt material since 2006's IV, these will be the first tracks from the classic lineup of guitarists/vocalists Louie Post and Nina Gordon, bassist Steve Lack, and drummer Jim Shapiro since 1997's Eight Arms to Hold You.
Since March, the band have been posting a series of nostalgic photos and progress updates on the new material. Though concrete details on the songs have yet to surface, Post noted earlier in the summer, "I don't know what to say about the new songs except that I am madly in love with them."
