Tyler, the Creator Tweets that Odd Future Are "No More"

Despite the troubling and seemingly endless cloud of controversy that hovers over California hip-hop collective Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All, the group helped launch the careers of critically acclaimed artists like Tyler, the Creator, Earl Sweatshirt and Frank Ocean.

Last night (May 27), though, de facto ringleader Tyler tweeted that the group — often referred to by the abbreviation OFWGKTA — were "no more."

In a series of nostalgic tweets reflecting on the group's earlier years, Tyler noted how much he missed his Odd Future friends and collaborators, but said that the notorious acronym would live on forever.
UPDATE: Tyler has now shared the following tweet, implying that OF may not be over after all.  UPDATE 2 (May 29): Adding a bit more confusion to this all, Earl Sweatshirt has now tweeted the following: Odd Future released a number of collaborative compilations and mixtapes, starting with 2008's The Odd Future Tape and, most recently, 2012's The OF Tape Vol. 2. They also frequently toured together.

In addition to the solo success of artists like Tyler, the Creator, Earl Sweatshirt, Frank Ocean, Hodgy Beats, Left Brain, Syd tha Kyd, Domo Genesis, Mike G and Matt Martians, the collective also spawned collaborative member projects like MellowHype, the Internet, MellowHigh, EarlWolf and Sweaty Martians.

Odd Future also branched out into the TV world, teaming up with Adult Swim for their Loiter Squad television show.

The group often came under public scrutiny for everything from accusations of assault, homophobic lyrics, sexism and general idiocy. Relive the happier times by watching the collective's 2011 interview with Nardwuar in the player below.
