Though Pacific Northwest punk band Seaweed haven't exactly had a prolific second-life since reforming in 2007, the band are giving fans a chance to own a new pressing of their 1999 LP Actions and Indications. An expanded edition of the album arrives July 31 through Merge Records.
The label has dusted off the band's fifth and thus far most recent full-length for a limited-edition vinyl release. The collection has been remastered for vinyl and comes with cuts not packaged with the original vinyl release. The wax platter includes "Everybody's OK," which had previously only appeared on an import CD, while demos of "Choices Lost," "Ghosts" and "Never" come with a digital download code.
Actions and Indications was the band's first full-length for Merge, though Seaweed had appeared on the label's four-way split 7-inch with Superchunk, Geek and Three's Company in 1990. The single was co-released with Simple Machines, Leopard Gecko and Meat Records.
Actions and Indications followed the band's brief stint with major label Hollywood Records. It was recorded at the group's Uptone recording studio in Tacoma, WA, with Wes Weresch and band guitarist Clint Werner engineering the sessions.
The album is described as continuing the "ballad-free blast of Marshall-based growls and yelps" the band had become known for. You'll find a stream of the set's "Red Tape Parade" down below.
While Actions and Indications is Seaweed's last full-length release, the act delivered their "Service Deck"/"The Weight" 7-inch through No Idea in 2011.
