Swedish hardcore experimenters Refused recently broke a lengthy absence with an ongoing reunion tour, as well as Freedom, their first new studio album since 1998's The Shape of Punk to Come. Rather than feign another hiatus, the group have revealed that they're already thinking about a follow-up album.
In a new interview with NME, bassist Magnus Flagge explained that Refused are already piecing together ideas for a follow-up. "We're musically curious people and we just want to see where we can take this," he said. "We want to do more spontaniously and not so much tension to prove something I guess."
While that's not exactly promise of a studio album at any given time, drummer David Sandstrom added that the band will definitely keep plugging away, both on the road and in the studio.
"We still have this wish to be a band that exists and keps doing records and keeps touring because we've found our place with the fans. There is a future," he said. "One of the things that we talked about when we did Freedom was we wanted to sound like Refused, albeit in 2015. I think the next record, we want it to be a Refused record. Who knows exactly what it's gonna sound like?"
