My Morning Jacket are releasing their album The Waterfall next week (May 5), and they built up a little last-minute hype by swinging by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night (May 1) to play "Compound Fracture."
The performance mixed the group's brawny rock inclinations with their fondness slinky soul pop, and Jim James delivered a dynamic vocal performance while wearing a gaudy jacket, brimmed hat and impossibly large sunglasses. There were a couple of stuffed bears on the stage, and the band appeared in front of an animated projection of the album cover of The Waterfall.
