My Morning Jacket Reveal 'The Waterfall' LP, Share New Single and Tour Dates

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Mar 3, 2015

Late last year, Southern rock eccentrics My Morning Jacket hinted at a couple of new albums in the works, and now they've officially announced plans for the  full-length follow-up to 2011's Circuital.

Titled The Waterfall, the new LP is slated to arrive on May 4 via ATO.

It was recorded with Tucker Martine, who also served as the producer on Circuital and has contributed to the latest albums from acts like the Decemberists, Modest Mouse and Sufjan Stevens.

In a press release, MMJ frontman Jim James offered the following statement about The Waterfall:

What fused this record is, I feel like it's a weird turning point for the universe. I feel like so many people I know are getting divorced or having kids. There's so much change going on and I feel like, for me, that one chapter has ended. And if you're looking at a book, there's a hand flipping the page up and it's in between the chapter you just finished and the one that's getting ready to start. That's kind of the sound of this record, and my life, the sound of the page turning and not being sure what's coming next.

In conjunction with news of the record, the band have also delivered new single "Big Decisions" and shared an extensive list of upcoming tour dates. Their performance at Toronto's Field Trip Festival on June 7 remains their only Canadian date at this time.
