The Dears

"Here's to the Death of All the Romance"

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Aug 21, 2015

Canadian indie rockers the Dears recently announced their return with a new record called Times Infinity Volume One and shared a taste of the new material with "I Used to Pray for the Heavens to Fall." Now, the band are ready to unveil another new cut with the equally elaborately titled "Here's to the Death of All the Romance" — and Exclaim! has got your first listen to it.

Frontman Murray Lightburn previously described the record as being "about sentimentality but in the face of great uncertainty; the concept of eternal love and all its fragility," and "Here's to the Death of All the Romance" is no different. The song is as dramatic as its title implies, taking the listener on a journey through dense yet delicate sound, guided by Lightburn's theatrical and dynamic vocals.

The new record arrives on September 25 via Pheromone Recordings and Dangerbird Records, with a follow-up Volume Two due out in 2016. For now, though, listen to the premiere of "Here's to the Death of All the Romance" in the player below, where you'll also find some newly announced Canadian tour dates.
