Close to 10 years on from contributing music to Noah Baumbach's divorce dramedy The Squid and the Whale, indie pop duo Dean Wareham and Britta Phillips are re-teaming with the filmmaker to score his next film, Mistress America.
The movie was co-written by Baumbach and his Frances Ha star Greta Gerwig, and focuses on the relationship between a lonely college student in New York and her soon-to-be stepsister. It's further detailed in the film bio that it is "a comedy about dream-chasing, score-settling, makeshift families, and cat-stealing."
So far, no trailer for the film or song snippets from Wareham and Phillips' score have been unveiled, but Miss America premieres next month at the Sundance Film Festival in Colorado.
In addition to working with Baumbach on The Squid and the Whale, Wareham and Phillips' songs have also been featured in the filmmaker's Frances Ha and Margot at the Wedding. The director's Greenberg also included music from Wareham's past project, Galaxie 500.
