Last week, tickets for next year's instalment of iconic UK festival Glastonbury went on sale and sold out in 30 minutes before any of the upcoming lineup had even been revealed. Rumours are already swirling about who might top the bill, but David Bowie's live agent has firmly stated that Ziggy will not play guitar for the masses at Glasto — or anywhere else for that matter.
Bowie hasn't performed on stage in ten years, and according to The Guardian, his booking agent John Giddings quashed any rumours of shows to come over the weekend at an international conference in London.
"David is one of the best artists I've ever worked with. But every time I see him now, before I even speak to him, he goes, 'I'm not touring' and I say, 'I'm not asking,'" Giddings said. "He has decided to retire and, like Phil Collins, you can't demand these people go out there again and again and again."
Bowie last took his show on the road for A Reality Tour in 2004.
Fans hoping to see the Thin White Duke himself may be out of luck, but perhaps Giddings should check in with the professor impersonating Bowie for upcoming performance potential.
The real deal still has a number of projects on the go, nevertheless, having recently released a new box set and TV theme song, as well as garnering a writing credit on an upcoming stage production of The Man Who Fell to Earth.
