Torture

Cannibal Corpse
When it comes to gory death metal, Cannibal Corpse are among the genre's elite and have been for over two decades. If there's one very important reason as to why they've maintained this status, it's consistency. With their 12th album, Torture, the Florida (by way of Buffalo, NY) band don't disappoint, as the record delivers an onslaught of the crushing, intense brutality expected from them, with no filler whatsoever. It's a solid follow-up to their 2009 bone-shattering release, Evisceration Plague, and once again working with Hate Eternal's Erik Rutan, the production is amazingly crisp. Cannibal Corpse have preserved their long-established themes of death and mutilation, and the violent imagery continues with the gruesome "As Deep As the Knife Will Go" and "Followed Home Then Killed." The high-speed attack of opener "Demented Aggression" makes it an album highlight, as are the groove-filled "Scourge of Iron," featuring some incendiary soloing, and "Intestinal Crank," which captures George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher's merciless vocals. Torture is classic Corpse. No complaints. (Metal Blade)
