North Carolina alt-rock crew Archers of Loaf are revisiting the good old days for an upcoming live album. And by good old days, we mean their 2011 reunion. Recorded at a hometown show in Chapel Hill, Curse of the Loaf arrives as a double LP later this summer.
The band revealed their plans over Facebook, confirming that the live document arrives through Port Merchandise sometime in mid-July. The collection features 24 cuts captured by engineer Brian Paulson over the course of two 2011 performances at Chapel Hill, NC's Cat's Cradle venue. These same performances were also showcased in documentarian Gorman Bechard's What Did You Expect?
The setlist covered a number of oldies that would be re-examined the next year in Merge Record's extensive reissue campaign.
You'll find a gritty, in-concert run-through of Vee Vee track "Harnessed in Slums" down beneath the tracklisting.
The album is limited to 2,500. It comes packaged in a gatefold sleeve, which will hold the two LPs, a DVD copy of What Did You Expect? and a replica concert poster made by artist release Paul Friedrich. Pre-sales begin in June.
Along with the new live album, Archers of Loaf have revealed some upcoming tour dates, which you can see below. Unfortunately, the band have no plans to come up to Canada just yet, but fans in Brooklyn, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC, should be plenty happy.
