ACTORS keyboardist Shannon Hemmett has announced her debut solo album as LEATHERS, previewed today by new single "Divine."
Ultraviolet arrives August 16 on Artoffact Records. It follows the Vancouver musician and tattoo artist's 2021 EP, Reckless — featured in Exclaim!'s Staff Picks.
"I got my hands dirty in every aspect of this record," Hemmett explained in a release. "Not just with the songs and the lyrics, but making my own music videos, photographs, and designing an entire visual motif for the project. I find it so satisfying to create a total aesthetic."
New single "Divine" is a breathless, pulsing electropop number that sees the artist exerting total control over both the track and situation. It stands as a testament to the tenebrous yet commanding presence Hemmett has proven herself to have behind the mic.
