Yuck Detail 'Stranger Things' LP, Premiere New Single

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jan 12, 2016

Yuck first teased their third full-length release with a stream of its "Hold Me Closer" last summer, and now they've gone ahead and coughed up the details for the rest of the set. Titled Stranger Things, the record lands February 26 through new label home Mame Records.

While 2013's Glow & Behold was written and recorded in New York City, the London group opted to record their latest set at home over the course of several months. Sessions took place at rehearsal spots and frontman Max Bloom's parents' place, where they had recorded their 2011 self-titled debut.

"We basically spent no money on the record and it was a really relaxed way of doing things," Bloom said in a statement. "I really, really like it. I'm more proud of it than anything we've ever done."

The album starts off with the aforementioned "Hold Me Closer" and is said to contain tracks inspired by indie greats like Dinosaur Jr. and Built to Spill, while also presenting "remarkably gentle" pieces like "I'm Ok."

"'I'm Ok' is a very personal song because it's just about the anxiety I've been feeling over the last couple of years," Bloom explained. "It's very cathartic to write about in a song, but definitely not easy to speak about. It felt important with this record to deal with a bunch of that stuff, clear out the past, and make a fresh go of things."
