The second effort from Woe of Tyrants combines thrash and death metal in a way that showcases the band's excellent musicianship. Although Kingdom of Might is the band's first release on Metal Blade, Woe of Tyrants have honed a distinct sound. The band lean towards a modern style of melodic thrash but with spurts of aggressive death metal added at just the right moments. Death metal guttural vocals and thrash-infused guitar riffs clearly showcase the band's talent. A major plus is that vocalist Chris Catanzaro doesn't sway towards modern metal's style of melodic vocals, which aids the album's strong atmosphere. Guitarists Chris Burns and Matt Kincaid highlight their skill on tracks like "Break The Fangs Of The Wicked," which is one of the album's heavies and most aggressive tunes. Some of the biblical themed songs, like "Jesu Juva" and "Sounding Jerusalem," also contain some of the strongest guitar work and are the best constructed. "Sons of Thunder" is the only instrumental track on the album. With a very melodically guitar-driven composition and a deep groove, the song pushes the album to a very different level.
