Wine Lips Jump High in New "Fly Swatter" Music Video

BY Matt BobkinPublished Jun 26, 2019

Toronto garage-rock trio Wine Lips are currently on tour in support of sophomore album Stressor, released earlier this year, but that's not all they've been busy with. The Class of 2019 alumni have now dropped a new video for Stressor track "Fly Swatter."

"I wrote 'Fly Swatter' after we experienced a really bad fly problem in our apartment," says guitarist and lead vocalist Cam Hilborn. "There was literally hundreds of flies all over the house and it was driving us crazy so I spent a night exterminating them one by one until they were gone."

True to the song's hard-working origins, the video depicts a high jumper's attempt to ascend (figuratively and literally) to his champion father's level. There's plenty of angst, fog machines, tracksuits and even an angel.

As far as engaging music videos go, Wine Lips have definitely cleared the high bar set by their animated clip for Stressor's opening track, "Shark Eyes."
